Application Groups

Application Groups enable the filter administrator to create Policies that will apply only when a given Application is used.

Application Groups will not have any affect until activated with Access Policies.

Application Detection

Applications are detected by parsing the app's User Agent (UA) value from the User-Agent header with case insensitive regular expressions.

If the User-Agent header is absent or the value is too generic, the app should not be included in the Application Groups used in your Access Policies.

The Realtime Log Viewer displays the UA string if Redwood is configured to log UAs, and the app passes the User-Agent header.
